Asda is the supermarket to shop at this Easter, after being named overall Easter egg winner in the biggest ever Good Housekeeping Institute Easter Taste Test 2025.

This year, the panel of experts tested a whopping 96 Easter Eggs from supermarkets and brands such as Hotel Chocolat and Bettys but it was Asda’s Exceptional by Asda Caramel, Pretzel & Honeycomb Milk Chocolate Egg (£9.98/300g) which achieved the highest overall taste score. Asda’s egg was also named both the winner of Best Value and Best Milk Chocolate Easter Egg.

GHI said, “If you only buy one Easter egg this year, make it ASDA’s crunchy pretzel and honeycomb-studded milk chocolate showstopper”.

Asda was the only supermarket to earn the top spot for two Easter Egg categories, scooping up Best Dark Chocolate Egg too with its Exceptional by Asda Orange & Ginger Dark Chocolate Egg (£9.98/200g).

Asda’s Exceptional by Asda Blonde & Hazelnut Chocolate Egg (£9.98/200g) and Exceptional by Asda Fruit & Nut Milk Chocolate Egg (£9.98/300g) were also both Taste Approved by GHI in the Easter Taste Tests.

The Blonde & Hazelnut Chocolate Egg is Asda’s new flavour this year, containing rich Italian blonde chocolate with Piedmont hazelnut paste, crunchy hazelnut pieces and fleur de sel sea salt, hand decorated with dark chocolate to create the ultimate indulgent treat.

The news follows Asda being named the cheapest UK supermarket for a large shop in February 2025, according to Which?.

Asda came out cheapest at £512.30 for a large shop of 206 items beating Tesco with a Clubcard by £3 (£515.30). It comes after Asda announced the return of its iconic Rollback proposition, which has seen the prices of more than 4,000 family-favourite products reduced by an average discount of 25% in-store and online.
