Customers can’t get enough of Asda’s new Black Heart Cake as hundreds say they need one for their birthday

As Halloween approaches, one of Asda’s latest launches in the cake aisle is set to be the centrepiece of the spooky season – and customers will be pleased to know it will be available all year round.

The supermarket’s new, on-trend and first to market Black Heart Cake (£14.98, serves 16) has already captured the attention of social media users, who are claiming it to be the must-have cake for not only birthdays (especially RIP 20s ones) but Halloween too – even anniversaries.

The Lambeth-style, heart-shaped cake (which works out just at 94p per slice) is a rich chocolate sponge, layered and covered with deep, dark, smooth chocolate frosting – creating the ultimate gothic-inspired treat.

According to social media users, the cake is also the ideal canvas, with many looking forward to personalising it with their own decorations and on-trend icing writing.

Others comment that it’s the perfect ‘RIP 20s’ cake, tapping into this trend and suggesting it’s the must-have centrepiece for anyone turning 30.

Over 150 people took to commenting on Newfoodsuk’s post about the launch, saying:

TikTok food spotter, Libbie May Fitzpatrick, shared the launch with her 45K followers declaring that the cake “looks so good, it looks so expensive, it looks so boujee”. Her video has attracted over 500K views and 27K likes with comments including:

With one user even claiming they had previously spent £50+ trying to make their own, saying, “why wasn’t this around in August”.

TikTok account Triple Eats (75.2K followers) posted a video of them trying the cake for the first time, which has reached 58.5K views. One of the comments demonstrates the value the celebration cake offers, with a user pointing out, “People on Instagram charge £40-£60 for a cake like that. Looks like a steal to decorate yourself and gift someone”.

The launch was also shared on Snack Reviews Facebook Group garnering over 500 comments including:
