It’s safe to say shoppers are gearing up for celebrations throughout the festive period and planning to enjoy plenty of good food, with customer searches on Asda.com seeing increases of 339% on Christmas cheese. Other increases include 922% on Lynx Gift Sets and 263% on Galaxy Selection boxes.
George.com has seen Christmas related terms dominate its top 5 with festive jumpers and matching pyjamas among them.
Almost 18 million metres of wrapping paper are expected to sell – the distance between London and the North Pole, and back, and then some.
Sales of Christmas trees would fill Sherwood Forest, 350 times over - and every Christmas tree needs a novelty bauble too – and George Home had it covered – the supermarket homeware brand has sold over 265,000 of them from novelty Asda trolley to chips in a cone.
And for those who welcomes Elf on the Shelf into their festive traditions, over 106,000 more were released into the world – that's over 2.5 million cheeky elf incidents until they return to the North Pole on Christmas eve.
On to the main event, the retailer expects to sell 2 million packets of pigs in blankets and enough wine and fizz to fill over 42 swimming pools as customers get set to toast the big day and bring in the New Year.
The dogs Christmas Dinner is sorted too, and at just 42p, with Asda Adult Dog Hero Festive Feast - 92,000 pooches are expected to enjoy it this Christmas Day.
The supermarket also expects to sell over 378,000 products for pet gifts this Christmas, from toys to jumpers.
Asda cafe’s Winter Warmer deal has sold 120,000 meals so far, with a further 21,000 expected to sell before Christmas.
