Asda toasts to Beaujolais Nouveau Day with a limited-edition wine for just £7.47

Brits dream of a French life. New research from Asda shows that despite centuries of rivalry, as many as 53 per cent of Brits would choose to be French, if they had to swap nationalities, choosing our nearest neighbours over the Italians (49 per cent), Spanish (44 per cent) or Germans (15 per cent). 

Embracing our love of all things French, Asda is marking the French festivity that is Beaujolais Day on Thursday 20th November with the launch of its limited-edition bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau at just £7.47. Fresh, fruity and full of French flair, this new Beaujolais bottle is the light red wine that’s perfect for any occasion.

Bringing some je ne sais quoi to wine aisles nationwide, the launch comes as over half of Brits (59 per cent) also admit the French are classier than us, while 69 per cent confess they have a level of sophistication we aspire to have. 65 per cent of Brits go as far to say French women are some of the classiest in the world, while 48 per cent of women think French men have the sexiest accents.

The survey revealed a list of things Brits like best about our French counterparts, with croissants (61 per cent) French wine (44 per cent), French cheese (44 per cent) and romance (20 per cent) topping the list.

Beaujolais Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of November to mark the release of Beaujolais Nouveau wine. And it's particularly popular in Swansea, with some saying it’s their version of Christmas Day, celebrated with parties, themed menus and live music across the city. This year, as many as 73 per cent of girls from Swansea say they will be celebrating Beaujolais Day this Thursday, the biggest fans of the day by far.

To toast the launch of the new bottle, Asda is opening an exclusive Beaujolais Beauty Bar in Asda Swansea’s  wine aisle for one night only, helping partygoers get ready for the city’s biggest night out of the year, with free makeovers available to anyone picking up a bottle of the new Beaujolais Nouveau wine. Over a quarter of all UK men and women will celebrate on Thursday, meaning the day is increasing in popularity nationwide.
