Asda expects to sell 200% more paddling pools as temperatures rise this weekend
As temperatures continue to rise to 30 degrees Celsius and beyond, supermarket Asda has revealed that Brits will be soaking up the sunshine this weekend, as sales for paddling pools, BBQs and shorts are predicted to spike and searches for sun cream soar.
For those looking to cool down in the heat, paddling pools sales are expected to be up 200% - and with the George Classic Pool NOW £12.24 (was £20) until 31st August, it’s the perfect time for customers to up their garden game.
Outdoor toys are forecasted to be up 150% - a garden must-have for those looking to entertain themselves or their guests outdoors.
And speaking of guests – sales across BBQ, picnic and camping will see an increase of 150%. The supermarket is currently offering up to 20% off selected outdoor and garden online and in selected stores now.
Fashion sales will also benefit because of the warmer climate, with women shorts forecasted at 120% uplift and dresses not far behind with a 100%+ increase into the weekend. Searches for holiday fashion on george.com are up over 3000%, and in the top five search terms on the website.
The supermarket also predicts to sell over 7million litres of beer this week, which is the equivalent of 12.3million pints – that's enough to fill just under 3 Olympic size swimming pools. Plus almost 350 thousand burgers and 600 thousand packs of bread rolls.
Last minute BBQs are expected to be popular again this weekend, after last Friday alone the top three most purchased products from Asda through quick delivery services like Uber Eats, Just Eat & Deliveroo were: Asda’s Smoky BBQ Beef Koftas, followed by Asda’s Mediterranean Inspired Pork Meatball Kebabs and then Asda’s Korean BBQ Inspired Lamb Leg Steaks.
Whilst searches on asda.com for ‘sun cream’ are up 211% as Brits prepare for a weekend outdoors.
