Asda's new Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream is getting rave reviews on TikTok and social media this summer – with people calling it "top tier", "the best ice cream I've had" and better than more expensive brands.

Asda Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream

The caramel-flavoured ice cream is loaded with swirled sauce and bite-sized pieces of crisp caramelised biscuit and – one of the most popular talking points – a "hard shell" layer of caramelised biscuit sauce on top that people say they love cracking into with a spoon.

It's one of several new and improved ice creams launched by Asda for summer 2026 – including the new Loaded Mango & Passion Fruit Ice Cream and improved Loaded Cookie Dough and Loaded Choc Fudge Brownie flavours.

This article looks at the feedback from customers on social media – and Asda ice cream development expert Kay Davies explains the secrets of the success of this year's range.

"Asda pulled it out the bag" with the new Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream

"All Things Food" influencer Sherene Cyrus posted a taste test of the Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream on her TikTok and Instagram pages.

Sherene told her 157,000 followers on TikTok: "Lately I've really been loving Biscoff but I've not been liking how things don't taste like Biscoff if they're caramelised biscuit. They taste like knock-off.

"This doesn't taste knock-off at all ... I'm sorry, Biscoff, but Asda pulled it out the bag and this tastes better than your ice creams."

The TikTok inspired her followers to give it a try and here are just some of their comments:

  • "Omg girl I just got back from Asda, thank you the ice cream is 10/10 🔥🔥🔥"

  • "I bought one this mornin lushhh 😁"

  • "It’s incredible!!"

In a taste test video she reviewed the four flavours – Choc Fudge Brownie, Cookie Dough, Mango & Passion Fruit and Caramelised Biscuit.

She especially liked the Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream, saying "That's the best ice cream I've had. That is better than Biscoff's Biscoff ice cream. Incred. That's a 15 out of 10."

Her other favourite was the Loaded Mango & Passion Fruit Ice Cream which she compared to the taste of a Solero and rated a 9.8/10.

She scored the Loaded Choc Fudge Brownie Ice Cream 9/10 and said: "Although it doesn't taste too different to Ben & Jerry's, it's less than half the price."

And she highlighted the "giant" chunks of cookie dough through the Loaded Cookie Dough Ice Cream, which she scored 8/10.

A few of the comments on her video:

  • "Asda slaying as always 😍 I'd love to try the biscoff and mango & passionfruit ones!"

  • "The caramelised biscuit looks banging"

  • "Need the mango one and cookie dough 😍"

  • "They all sound delicious 😋"

People love cracking through the top layer of caramelised biscuit sauce

A common theme in social media reviews is people loving the top layer of caramelised biscuit sauce you crack through to get to the ice cream.

Sherene Cyrus said: "It's got like a hard shell to break at the top, which I love" and Trea The Foodie, who has 44,000 followers on TikTok, talked about the topping being "really really crunchy" and said: "This was mad good, man."

Content creator IsthatAlif, who has more than 400,000 followers across his social channels, said "This ice cream is top tier" and "genuinely probably one of the best-tasting ice creams I've had in a long time".

Ice cream expert Kay explains the appeal of Asda's Loaded ice creams – and what "organoleptic" means

Kay Davies is Asda's product development specialist for ice cream and she's delighted by the reaction to the launch of the Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream and its crunchy topping.

"We knew our customers would love the flavour of the ice cream and the combination of the sauce and biscuit. The key was creating that experience of cracking through that topping to dig into your ice cream. It's about taking all of the organoleptic elements and creating a sense of excitement when you are eating it."

So what does organoleptic mean? It refers to the sensory perception of a substance. For food scientists it means things like the taste, the smell, the texture, the appearance – and even the sound ... like the crunch of digging your spoon into the top layer of the Asda Loaded Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream.

Kay knows why people love that top layer, and why people wish there was more if it! "It's like getting the crispy bits of cheese on top of a pasta bake. I think whoever serves up the portions should let someone else choose the first portion. Or maybe you should cut the whole tub into portions so everyone gets the same amount and mix!"

As well as analysing customer feedback, Kay and her team get a lot of insights from social media – and they're always happy to see a product getting lots of online love, like the Asda Loaded Mango and Passion Fruit Ice Cream that got a 9.8/10 review from TikToker Minstrel Munches. Kay says: "I think it's great. It's like a Solero in reverse with the fruit in a core in the middle and the ice cream on the outside. It's a lovely refreshing ice cream."

Improving existing products like Asda Loaded Choc Brownie and Cookie Dough

Listening to what customers are thinking and saying isn't always about new products; it's also about improving existing ones.

Kay says: "We look at online reviews all the time and if a product doesn't do as well as we wanted we try to understand why and see how we can improve it. So with the Loaded Cookie Dough Ice Cream the reviews last year were that there wasn't enough cookie dough mix in it and when we looked at it they were right. So this year we've packed it with loads more cookie dough."

And the giant chunk of cookie dough is exactly what TikToker Minstrel Munches picked up on in her review above.

Kay said: "With the Loaded Choc Fudge Brownie Ice Cream the feedback was that customers liked it, so we didn't want to change it too much – that was a case of making sure that the brownie was extra chewy.”

Kay's advice on eating ice cream – and avoiding brain freeze

Asda ice cream product developer Kay Davies – who appeared on ITV's This Morning during the hot May bank holiday weekend to reveal what it's like being a professional ice cream tester – says: "I always say you should let your ice cream sit for a good five minutes to get a little soft because you get the best flavour when it's not rock hard.

"All ice creams are different, so a more premium ice cream will have less air in – they put air in ice cream to make it more scoopable – so a softer scoop ice cream will melt quicker than a premium one. If it's still really frozen you don't get the flavours as well. It's why Mr Whippy tastes so good, because it's never fully frozen.

"One tip is to make sure you don't push the ice cream on to the roof of your mouth because that's where you get brain freeze."
