Asda Express celebrates 500‑store milestone with Bradford & Salford new store openings

Asda has started 2026 by opening two new Asda Express stores in Bradford and Salford, taking its nationwide convenience estate to more than 500 stores. The milestone reflects Asda’s rapid growth since entering the convenience market in 2022 and its continued focus on delivering unbeatable value in high‑footfall locations across the UK.

Asda has taken its nationwide convenience estate to more than 500 stores with the launch of two new Express stores in Bradford and Salford.

The milestone reflects Asda’s rapid expansion in the UK convenience sector and its continued commitment to bringing unbeatable value to more local communities.

The latest Asda Express openings include:

• Asda Express Bradford – a converted former Hare and Hounds pub on Toller Lane

• Asda Express Salford – a new store on Norton Street, close to Salford Central train station

The new Express stores support Asda’s ambition to strengthen its presence in high-footfall urban areas, residential neighbourhoods, and transport hubs - locations where Asda has traditionally had less of a footprint, but where demand for convenience and great value continues to grow.

Each Express convenience store offers over 3,000 branded and own-label products, catering to everything from top-up shops to lunch on the go.

A variety of services will be coming to the stores shortly after launch, including bakery items and food to go products. To make shopping even more convenient, on-demand food delivery options such as Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo will also be available.

Since entering the convenience retail market in 2022, Asda has expanded its Express format rapidly, as part of the retailer’s commitment to offer great choice and prices that consistently beat competitor convenience stores.

Following the opening of 17 Express stores during 2025, and the two new openings at the start of 2026, Asda now operates more than 500 Asda Express stores across the UK.

Customers can expect the same great value found in larger Asda supermarkets. Asda Express already matches supermarket prices on selected everyday essentials, including:

• Bread

• Milk

• Chicken fillets

• Beef mince

• Cheese

• Selected fresh fruit and vegetables
