Shoppers are clearly taking sides in the internet's sweetest debate, with Oreo sales at Asda soaring by 250% as the viral 'Oreo-gate' conversation continues to dominate social feeds.

The online debate, sparked by a school mum group chat discussing whether children should be allowed to take Oreos in their lunchboxes, has captured millions of views and generated widespread discussion across social media.

With conversations translating into shopping baskets, Asda reports that sales of Oreo Original Cookies are up 250% compared to typical sales levels on August 21st, with spikes continuing to show throughout the week as conversations continued, with a 91% uplift on Oreo Double Stuff Cookies on August 24th. Asda also reports that searches on Asda.com for 'Oreo' are up 160% this month, compared to last month, proving that online chatter is turning into purchases.

Giving Oreo mums even more to talk about, a select number of Asda's Oreo products are currently on Rollback - offering shoppers the perfect excuse to stock up on the undeniably iconic cookies for less. Popular lines include the Oreo Original Cookies 154g (WAS £1.28, NOW 85p) and Oreo Double Stuff Cookies 157g (WAS £1.28, NOW 85p) - saving customers 33%!

Asda's Buyer of Biscuits commented on the surge, saying:

"Whether you're Team Oreo or just enjoying the social media drama from the sidelines, it's clear the viral conversation has got the nation talking and shopping. We've seen Oreo sales rise by more than 250%, and with selected Oreo products currently on Rollback, customers can pick up a pack for even less!".

Customers can shop Asda's Oreo products on Rollback, live now until September 15th.
