Put a Ring on it for less than a Pound! Asda Launches 96p 'Diamond' Engagement Rings Just in Time for Valentine’s Day
In a move that says, "I love you" while whispering "I still need to pay the electric bill," Asda has officially launched its 96p ‘Diamond’ Engagement Ring.
As the UK navigates the ongoing "will-they-won’t-they" relationship with economic stability in 2026, Asda is helping shoppers pop the question without popping their overdraft limit. For less than the price of a loose cucumber at 98p, romantics can now secure a rock that - if you squint in the right light - looks suspiciously like a month’s salary.
The masterpiece features a "gemstone" so dazzling it might actually be visible from space (or at least from the frozen aisle). It comes complete with a red velvet box, ensuring the presentation is 2,000% more expensive than the jewellery itself.
To announce its rollout, the 'gem' was pictured arriving at the Asda Pudsey store - in a blacked-out vehicle, with security to boot.
Jade Cooper, Asda's Valentines Buyer, said: “Look, we know a 96p ring isn't going to end up in a museum, but who expects to find this kind of carat in a supermarket. We see it as a placeholder, a promise, or a very shiny way to say you don't need to put a price on love and it’s risk free. Afterall, it's the thought – and the 4p change - that counts, not the price you pay."
Availability: Catch Them While You Can
Romance doesn’t hang around - and neither do great deals. The 'diamond' engagement rings are available in 570 Asda stores across the UK right now. Prospective fiancés will need to move fast, though, with only around 22,000 rings available nationwide until Valentine’s Day. Shop now.
