Asda Local Community Programme

The Asda Local Community Programme helps stores support the communities they serve through practical, local action. Delivered by a network of nearly 400 Asda Community and Customer Champions across the UK, the programme connects stores with local charities, community groups and good causes to provide support where it is needed most.

Guided by insight into the issues affecting local communities, Community and Customer Champions work closely with local organisations to deliver meaningful support that responds to local needs. This includes donating time, space and goods, supporting fundraising activities, raising awareness of local services, and helping communities access opportunities and resources that make a difference.

The programme focuses on bringing people together, strengthening community connections and supporting initiatives that improve wellbeing, tackle social isolation, encourage physical activity and help local people thrive. Through year-round community activity, Asda stores play an active role in supporting the communities they serve.

Working alongside the independent Asda Foundation charity, Community and Customer Champions help identify local needs and connect communities with wider opportunities for support, ensuring local insight helps shape community investment and action across the UK.

Donations of Space and Community Connections

Our stores provide valuable community spaces that help people come together, access support and build stronger local connections. Through community rooms and café spaces, stores can offer welcoming environments for local groups to meet, run activities, share information and engage with their communities.

These spaces support a wide range of activities, from friendship groups and wellbeing sessions to fundraising events, community meetings and local support services.

Community and Customer Champions also welcome charities and community organisations into stores to raise awareness of the help they offer, giving customers and colleagues the opportunity to learn about services available in their local area.

Stores also host Donation Trolleys, making it easy for customers to support local causes while they shop. These initiatives provide practical support for organisations tackling food insecurity, poverty and other community challenges. This includes collections for local food banks and book donation points supporting The Children's Book Project, helping to provide children with access to books helping more children access books and develop a love of reading.

Donations of Goods

Asda stores help support local communities through the donation of goods to community groups. Guided by local knowledge and community insight, they work with local organisations to identify needs and provide practical support that can make an immediate difference.

Goods donations can include food and groceries, wellbeing items, activity resources, raffle prizes for fundraising events, seasonal support and other products that help local groups deliver their services. These donations enable organisations to stretch limited resources further and continue supporting people within their communities.
