Asda sales soar to new heights ahead of Valentine's Day
With the most romantic day of the year only one sleep away, shoppers have been investing in staple jewellery pieces – with Asda’s £1 engagement ring – bunches of flowers, fizz to cheers with and heart shaped pizzas to enjoy.

Supermarket giant Asda brought back its popular £1 engagement ring for 2024 and sales are proving just how popular it is. To date, and with Valentine’s Day still one day away, the retailer has sold 25,000 rings – that is over 1,000 a day since they hit shelves or when stacked up, three times the height of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
Cheers to your love
Sales of fizz are up +12% year on year, with 88,000 bottles sold the weekend before Valentine’s Day and a further 17,000 last minute bottles predicted to be bought today and tomorrow in the final run-up. Asda’s £11.99 champagne and £5 prosecco are proving the most popular items bought. That’s 438,000 champagne flutes filled!
A pizza my heart
Asda has sold 10.5k half and half loveheart pizzas from the pizza counter so far – customers have been able to choose between the half and half Pepperoni Feast and Cheese Meltdown, or the Veggie Supreme and Cheese Meltdown. That is 21,000 lovers sharing the romantic Italian dish.
Bunches of love
Today and tomorrow is when we the retailer will sell its highest number of flowers for Valentine’s Day. Asda predicts to sell 515k bunches during these two days - that is 358 bunches given per minute over the 24-hour Valentine’s Day period.
